Rest and Play

After much anticipation, at almost 37 weeks, I am finally on maternity leave. I’m often asked how this pregnancy compares to my first, and I only know that it is completely different. With my first pregnancy I was able to focus on myself. I spent a lot of time resting, getting the nursery ready, reading and researching, and going on dates with my husband.

This time around, my toddler daughter takes up most of my energy. As much as I want to kick my feet up and watch Netflix, if my little one wants to play outside or to cuddle up and sing songs, I find it so hard to say no – and I don’t really mind. I know that my family’s life is going to change dramatically once baby #2 is born. We’ll be joining the 2 under 2 club! Though exciting also a bit nerve wrecking. I pray that my daughter has a smooth transition into big sisterhood, and until then I’m going to spend as much of my time off (and as much as my energy allows) letting my daughter enjoy this last little bit of time being an only child.
